Moeco is one of the first fully eco-driving taxi apps, it competes with other non-eco companies. When designing Moeco, I looked at many apps and they all looked quite similar. The main problem was to come up with an alternative idea of taxi experience, different from competitors, and to encourage users to drive eco-cars.
The strategy is simple - to inspire users not only to drive eco-taxis but to go toward eco-vehicles. Together with the Moeco team, we achieved it by illustrating positive impact within each eco-ride & by implementing a gamification model based on rewards. Users get eco-XP for each ride or action they take inside of the app and collect rewards for it. They are also attached to a levels system, which gives its benefits for users with higher levels. A referral system is another method to grow a company's customer base, reward both old and new users with discounts.
